Eagles Forward, Nwankwo: We Will Not Underrate Seychelles

By Adeboye Amosu:

Ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Seychelles in Victoria, Super Eagles forward, Simeon Nwankwo, has reiterated the importance of not underrating the Pirates despite their low footballing profile, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Super Eagles will be looking to get their qualification hopes for Cameroon 2019 back on track after going down to a 2-0 home defeat against South Africa on match day one.

Seychelles who have never graced the AFCON finals were destroyed 5-1 by Libya in their first game in the qualifying series.

Despite the withdrawal of key trio; Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong and Ola Aina from the game due to injuries, the three time winners of the AFCON remain firm favourites to win the game at least going by their pedigree.

But Nwankwo, who plays for Italian Serie B outfit, Crotone insists the Super Eagles must respect the Seychelloise and work very hard to win the match in Victoria.

“Seychelles are not a big footballing country, but we still have to respect them and not expect an easy game from them,” Nwankwo told CSN on Thursday.

“You don’t get easy games in international football these days, so it is important for us to prepare well and give our best on match day.”
